Cooperation agreement signed by Kazan Federal University and Indian petroleum powerhouse ONGC

The paper was signed by Vice-Rector Danis Nurgaliev and ONGC head of research Shri Omkar Nath Gyani.

The agreement covers research collaborations, educational programs for ONGC employees, internships, and innovation management. It became possible thanks to new acquaintances made at the TheOR 2017 conference at KFU.

After the signing, Mr. Gyani noted, “Kazan Federal University is a significant partner for ONGC. Today, ONGC’s priorities are low permeability reservoirs and deposits with high temperatures and high mineralization. KFU’s technologies may help in overcoming existing problems.”

Danis Nurgaliev added that the cooperation roadmap already includes over a dozen of bullet points. In 2019, two projects in thermal oil recovery are set to begin.

During the visit to India, KFU delegates presented the University’s various competences, including deposit modelling, heavy oil extractions, and other subjects.

The delegation also toured the ONGC research facility, the country’s leading center for in-situ combustion and thermal oil recovery.
